I've just had a TURBT carried out on Tuesday 7th August. I now have to wait 3 weeks for results. My Urologist confirmed it was cancerous but nothing else. I also had a dose of chemo into my bladder. Does this sound positive from others that have had the procedure. 3 weeks seems such a long time away and yiur mind goes into overdrive.
Hi . The timing is about right. It takes usually 10 days or so for the biopsy to be analysed. The chemo would probably have been Mitomycin to help catch any rogue cells floating around. The waiting is the worst time, but the time will fly by. Best wishes.
Hi Smurf1955. Quite normal to feel this way. Although there is nothing visible, you have had a chunk taken from your insides which takes a few weeks to heal. Also, the anaesthetic takes a while to clear out. Take it easy for a week or so. No heavy lifting, and drink plenty of water to keep things flushed out. Something they don't always tell you. At about the ten day mark, the scab starts to break away from the wound as part of the healing process. You may notice or feel some tiny blood clots passing. This is normal. Only telling you this as if you are not expecting it, it can give you a scare. Best wishes.
Just an update.Following my TURBT in August, I had my first flexible cystoscopy on friday 9th November. All went great, everything healed nicely and bladder clear and healthy. Next one in 9 months time, feeling so relieved
Great news Smurf1955. That's what we like to hear. Long may it continue. Best wishes.
Hi, just a quick question. Since my TURBT last year, I keep getting what I can only describe as period type pains, which can be uncomfortable. My cystoscopy in November was clear, but not sure when my next one is due.. I had a hysterectomy approx 20 years ago so have been pain free until now. Is this a common occurrence with people after having a tumour removed or should I be seeking further advice from my doctors. Thanks.
Hi Smurf1955 , probably the best route and person to ask is your CNS , did they give you an email or contact number in case of problems. They will have lots of experience with any problems and hopefully help you. They certainly have helped me over the years and to be honest more clued up than the doctor as its there speciality.
Hope they can help you and put your mind at rest. Great to hear you had a clear cystoscopy. I would think you must have another coming up soon and could ask at that ?
Hi . Over the years, I have had all sorts of unusual aches, pains and niggles which are always worrying but turned out to be nothing. We tend to think twice about things we would normally ignore. as Lugsy says, it is always wise to check with your CNS to be on the safe side. Best wishes.
