My problems started around two years ago when I first noticed blood in my urine, which was put down to an enlarged prostate and kidney stones. In August this year, the bleeding returned and got much worse, with dark blood and clots. After going to A&E and having further investigations, I was diagnosed with a bladder tumour, around 2cm in size.
I had my operation on 14 October. It took around 3 hours because the tumour was in an awkward position, but my surgeon was very pleased with the result and told me he’d got it all out. I also received Mitomycin C treatment straight after the operation.
I’m now recovering really well. My urine has cleared, I’m sleeping better, my discomfort is easing, and I’m feeling more like myself every day. I’m still taking it easy and waiting for my biopsy results, but I’m feeling very positive.
I’m sharing my experience to give others a bit of hope. Everyone’s circumstances are different, but I wanted people to know that it’s possible to come through the operation feeling surprisingly well. Wishing everyone going through this the very best. ️
