I’m looking for similar experiences/insight/words of encouragement. My dad has a Turbt in October for high grade bladder cancer. He finished induction course of bcg in January. Cystoscope scope in March was all clear. He did not do maintenance bcg due to other health issues. Cystscope today showed what doctor called “tiny” spot of recurrence, and the game plan is do turbt with one dose chemo immediately after. Anyone have a similar experience?

  • Sadly none of that is uncommon.

Turbt in July 24,had a couple of checks with no recurrences and several with recurrences. I did 6 weeks of Mitomycin once a week and still had recurrences, followed by 6 weeks of epirubicin in Jan/Feb this year and just this Friday went for a rigid cystoscope and they have taken some biopsies of something that they want to test.

So again waiting for histology and follow up from that shortly.

Recurrences can happen or not happen it varies wildly as in my case. So try not to read too much I not things just yet, it's often has it's ups and downs as many will testify too with this disease.

A second Turbt is often a possibility as well for lots of people.

  • At a Turbt they often do Mitomycin wash after removal If they can do it, I didn't ever get the Mitomycin after my Turbt for various reasons which is why I then had to do the once a week for 6 weeks. And in my case that also did not stop recurrences and that's why I then had to do the epirubicin this year.
