Well fought the good fight but 19 treatments in BCG is at an end. To much discomfort and damage after an exceptionally difficult six months. Consultants don't see much benefit in progressing and 18 doses is more than most countries offer and won't affect the what next to much. Plus I can return to BCG if anything returns. Disappointed to be fair but maybe time to heal and get on with life. Wish you all the best for your journey. I will raise a barley water to us all. 3 month monitoring here I come.

  • Hi  . You've given it a fair go. Hopefully it's done the job. I hope the discomfort settles for you. Good luck going forward with your monitoring. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Congrats on getting too 19 and don't beat yourself up too much.

I've stopped at 18 as it just killed my bladder also. I'm pleased to get to 18.

Like you mentioned it could be used again.. I had number 18 over a year ago, but they wouldn't install number 19 as my bladder was too inflamed.

Now on 6 Monthly monitoring, although I should be due one now but haven't heard.. I must follow up.

    Wishing you all the best.

  • well done Andy, 19 is a good achievement. I hope it all settles and you can enjoy the break between monitoring. Take care

  • Thanks means a lot from people who have been through it.

  • Thankyou means alot from people who have been through it. Same boat as you it seems. Bladder just had enough they refused 20 and consultant wasn't giving me the option to continue. I shan't miss it.  Be well.

  • You must be relieved to be stopping BCG, I hope you recover well and never ever need another BCG. I am having my first one in 11 days, 19 treatments seems so far away but I too will give it a good go!

  • best of luck jilly1 starting your bcg . I am due to have number 19 in June. If you click on my name you can get an idea of how its been for me . It has had its moments but overall it has been doable up to now. The first year seems quite full on with appointments and scans and flexis and bcg, but gets less intense after that I have found. I hope you find the first 9 as easy as I did, take care , keep in touch x

    Much love Angela x

  • Thanks just remember everyone is different at each step. My journey is mine, yours could be very different, it happens. Try not to over worry BCG the instillation is no Biggie and after that just look after yourself and keep on keeping on.

  • Thanks Angela, I have read through your notes, you certainly had a bad time getting through it all but you did it! I found that really helpful to read and have adjusted my expectations that it may get harder as the treatment goes on. I am 63 too, and a fan of David Bowie :-) I hope your tests continue to be clear in the future and that's you done with BCG! Thank you x
