Morning all,
Took a urine sample to the hospital yesterday, all clear, So today I’m starting a six week course of bladder washes, which will bring me up to my flexi.
Once a week, hold for two hours then flush it out and get on with the day, no bleaching ect…
As I’m weeing around every thirty minutes or so, two hours may be a struggle…
love to all

Hi Rob. Best of luck. You do need to hold on to it for two hours or as close as possible to two hours and then you do have to put bleach into toilet for fifteen minutes before flushing. This is for six hours. After the six week course there is. gap of about two months, during which you will have Rigid cystoscopy and biopsy under General anaesthetic before you go onto the maintenance 7-9 doses.
Hello all,
had my first and last bladder wash this morning…it was horrendous…it may work for some people but not me…
when the nurse was putting the anaesthetic in I could feel it burning…as the catheter went in I asked her to stop as it was unbearable… as it was then already In we carried on…(big mistake) the liquid went in and the catheter came out…it took me 30 minutes to walk the 10 minutes walk back to the taxi..as soon as I got into the cab I had to urinate…the pain and burning was unbearable. I sat there banging on the steering wheel and screaming in pain…I’ve never felt anything like it…I managed to get home, stripped off and went upstairs to the bathroom…I then had the urgency to pee again, same results, I sat on the toilet crying my eyes out…im sure I went into shock because I couldn’t stop shaking…I managed to calm the pain down by walking around the house for 90 minutes with a cold flannel wrapped around my genitals…I’ve peed again and it wasn’t as painful..I’ve contacted my CNS and asked her to cancel the rest of the washes….
love to all

I was told 1 hour for mitomycin and the epirubicin not 2 hours as the 2 hours is for BCG and both require some bleach into the toilet before urinating and try to not to share a toilet for 6 hours after the wash. And to clean yourself etc and try to avoid splashing onto skin.
Is it Mitomycin or BCG washes you are having?
If Mitomycin you won't have a flexi straight after it's usually 4 to 6 weeks after. Having said that I'm now 11 weeks since my epirubicin finished and still airing for an apointment. I assume BCG is similar where it will be a wait after the course has finishes before having the next acnera check.
