Hi,
I had my TURBT exactly 2 weeks ago and I’ve been contacted by Urology to accept a telephone consultation on Weds or opt for face to face. I’m wondering if I should be alarmed by the quickness of the appointment?
My discharge letter said Multiple Superficial TCCs measuring 2.5 cm. My procedure took 15 mins apparently according to the nurse looking after me. I’m really not sure if I should be encouraged by a telephone consultation or worried ? I’m swinging between the 2.
Anyone else encountered this?
I think the speed is luck as much as anything. We all try to guess why the hospital acts as it does. After my TURBT I was told they'd write, but I got a face to face. I expect the offer of a telephone consult is the hosp trying to avoid people having to travel. Which will you choose?
My TURBT result was a couple of days over 2 weeks so I don’t think this is unusual. Although it was carried out at a hospital 10 miles away I was given a face to face appointment at the urology clinic at my local hospital within walking distance from home. There was never the option of a telephone consultation but my news wasn’t good. I would guess and it’s only a guess that the option of a telephone consultation might not be the worst that you’re imagining.
I wouldn't worry about the speed, mine was also quick. They have to wait until the MDT meeting takes place before they can tell you the results and the plan, I was lucky and had a quick MDT meeting.
I can't remember when I got the call but we had our face to face just 20 days after the TURBT .
I was also offered either a telephone call or face to face and opted for a face to face as I like to be able to sit down and ask any questions I need to ask and not be rushed.
Hi POTF . As others say, you can never read anything in to the timing of appointments. With a first telephone consultation, it helps if you can record the conversation. You can be given so much information that you forget half of it or don't understand it. Always better to have someone with you so maybe someone with you with phone on speaker. Notes of the meeting should go on your NHS app if you have it, but if not ask to be copied in to the notes. It makes things easier to understand if in black and white. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.
