Hi all, just thought I would share my good news. I was at fracture clinic yesterday when my CNS called me ( in the middle of consultation, but I answered the call as it was so important) Cytology clear really sorry I have had to wait 23 days for the result. I was so relieved I burst into tears, finally some good news.

Fracture clinic was just ( in comparison) awful. However good news is that I dont need surgery on it, keep it in a sling and physio will get in touch. The staff were pleasant enough but information was sadly lacking . they will see me again in 2 months . Anyhow, apart from having to sleep on the recliner I am coping ok. Thankyou all so much for your support , even Garvivs jokes !! I am finding one handed texting a nightmare so will love you all in advance xx

  • Hi Halofan,

Great news re bladder, sorry about the shoulder. But in a way I think it may also be good news re the shoulder too, especially if you aren't in plaster.

I may be widely off beam here, and if so just ignore the following,  but my first fracture was in the upper humerus - more of a crack than anything truly broken or a damaged shoulder blade. And the bone mended itself, but I had some wonderful physio for the muscles around the area, especially the rotator cuff which was painful but began to mend fairly quickly. I only used a sling early on to help others on public transport avoid me (and give up their seat). This was about 20 years ago and up to then had considered myself very fit.

I did work on it diligently at home and in the gym including using various stretchy bands provided  by the physio and after some weeks the physio discharged me and by then my whole shoulder area was nearly back to normal. I never saw the fracture clinic again.

I have mentioned osteoporosis before, but it was my shoulder injury that got me into treatment for it.

    All the best,

    Latestart

  • Ambivalent feeling then great news and feeling frustrated somewhat still over the fracture.

But you are getting there slowly but surely.
