Hi, could you tell me what your symptoms of bladder cancer was.
Thanks .
I was diagnosed with pTaG2 Intermediate risk [20% high grade] bladder cancer, last November. In October, I had flu for about a week during which time for two days I had blood in urine with no clots; absolutely no other symptoms. I called my local GP surgery, who brushed it off as urinary infection. Urine sample grew Klebsiella apparently and they put me on Nitrofurantoin for a week. I had no further symptoms. However, I was not happy. Urine infection in healthy men is rare and Klebsiella is associated with stones or tumour. So I referred myself to the hospital, where they sent me for CT Urogram and Cystoscopy. This confirmed a 3 cm tumour near the left ureter. This was removed in November and I had Mitomycin into bladder afterwards. I am currently awaiting my third dose of BCG.
As you can see, unless a screening program is set up for the population above 60 years, lot of these will only get picked up when they are advanced. I sincerely hope there is a public campaign to initiate prostate and bladder screeing for all above 60 years of age.
Mine was blood in urine, no other symptoms
Started to see pinky tinge colour in last few drops of wee , thought nothing of it for about a month till it started to become redder . Went to gp. They thought a urinary infection so antibiotics . 2 weeks later - still blood- another round of antibiotics- 2weeks later again still blood so they referred me for a flexi cistoscopy- they found tumour- muscle invasive
Im male 45
My symptoms were urgency to pee at night which GP put down to enlarged but benign prostate. Urine samples and psi tests all clear. Around a year after this and including a spell in hospital for a new aortic valve where more testing of blood and urine came back clear I passed a couple of blood clots. Went running off to GP, more tests and referral to hospital where tumor and extensive red patches found during cystoscopy.
Blood in urine on routine test, simply asked to repeat test. Wasn’t until obvious blood after urination, which I thought was vaginal, that got me a fast track referral for possible gynaecological cancer. Ultrasound picked up bladder problem instead, so got flexi cysto same day and diagnosis.
I had pink pee at least 50% of the time for 3-4 years. It was thought to be caused by kidney stones on the march as I'd had quite a few pass. No other symptoms apart from kidney aches, sometimes severe, during that time. One evening I went to the loo and was horrified by bright red pee. I saw a GP same day. No infection from a simple dip test but he said kidney stone symptoms could be masking bladder cancer. He referred me to Urology on the rapid 2 weeks scheme. This was in 2017. 7cm lesion in bladder found by CT scan. Radiotherapy in 2017 then an emergency TURBT in 2018 to stem the severe bleeding. Follow-up TURBT later in 2018. Palliative care since early 2019 but living independently, driving etc.. Still get occasional bleeding from my scarred bladder and returning slow growing lesion. Last pink pee was two days ago. Life goes on .
A very frank bloody wee out of nowhere. No obvious symptoms other than that.
G2 pTa 1cm tumour removed July 24
Several rexurrneces since, had 6 weeks of mitomycin and didn't eldn and now on epirubicin for 6 weeks.
Heading for 2 years in may since I had that bloody wee in May.
