hi i had a ct scan done on the 8th of November today i got my letter with my appointments for my bcg treatment and also another letter to go for a ct scan on the 4th of February is this normal to get a ct scan three months later and how often do you get a scan

  • CT scan are done because they give a good image especially with contrast medium on parts that can't be seen. I'd Hazzard s guess that CT scans are done more regularly if it's muscle invasive as opposed to NMI.

I'm trying to think now if I've had 2 CT scans or just one. You would think I'd know the answer really to that. I am pretty sure I've had 2 since my journey started in May 24. I'm almost certainly it's been twice now. Then again I've spent that much time at appointnrnts or the hospital now it all seems blurry now.

But CT scans can be used to keep an eye on things like the cystocopy or ultra sound etc, but cystocopy is the preferred route for bladder cancer as it is very easy to spot inside on the camera.

  • Just read some of my posts on here and yes I have had a second CT scan, but that is I presume a yearly check up since my precious one, although I mentioned it in relation to being booked in for the Mitomycin so possibly par for course ahead of some treatments.

  • Hi smallfys,I had scans more or less every three months and had muscle invasive cancer. There was a slight delay during the pandemic.Best wishes for your scan.Love Jane x

  • as far as i am aware mines is non muscle invasive

although the tumors have been grade 3 to high i haven't even had the result of the ct scan which was done in November

  • There can be delays in getting the results. Some hospitals do not have enough radiographers to report on the scans. Also there can be hold ups over the Christmas period.I hope you hear soon.

  • hi had my first bcg maintenance treatment the CNS Nurse told me today that they saw two small spots on my lungs has any one had this before and if so what was the outcome

  • Hi  . When I was first diagnosed, a scan identified a node on my lung. I was told these are quite common. I didn't have any treatment other than regular scans and it has never changed. I hope it is the same for you but I am sue they will let you know more. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi,

Re results for CT scans. Does your hospital have an online information set up like Mychart or Mycare? Mine does and so I get to see copies of clinical letters, appointment details, lists of allergies I've notified them of and, once added into the site which may be before or after the oncologist or other specialist has reviewed them, written reports for CT scans, and other tests eg. ECGs

I think the NHS app can also contain these if the hospital doesn't have its own site.

I couldn't manage without it and check it regular. results of CT scans are taking around 6 weeks to appear at the moment.

I hope you get the info soon.

    All the best,
