Just a quick question. After my husbands first turbt he was given an infusion of mytomycin. This time the surgeon said it would just be a turbt as they don’t use chemo for a second turbt.

is this what happens to most of you who have had more than one op.? Or NHS saving money?

  • Hi Layeney

I never had a second dose at second TURBT usually just a tidy up job the second one

  • Hi Layeney, my second TURBT, was a Quick Look around to make sure they hadn’t missed anything…in and out in a couple of hours…no overnight stay, no catheter…

  • Hi Layeney

I had mitomycin after the 1st one , nothing after the 2nd , they were just checking to ensure they hadnt missed anything. Take care

    Much love Angela x

  • I would concur with the other comments on here. Mitomycin is usually a one off. It was for me, anyway. 2 TURBTs, Mitomycin, several cystoscopies and 9 bcg treatments later I am in the clear but will persevere with the immunotherapy as recommended as an insurance. I wish your husband good luck with the treatment

  • Had a second a couple of months after the 1st, to check they got everything out, confirm grading, and check for any cheeky regrowth. Not as bad as 1st TURBT, was in for 2-3 days. Was over in a flash.
