Update on mum’s journey

We’ve just heard that my mum has the appointment to get her biopsy results on Tuesday. Hopefully we will find out what sort of tumour we are dealing with and what her treatment plan is. I’m driving myself slightly mad reading about the different possibilities - mum doesn’t want to know anything about it beforehand which seems more sensible than me really! But I need to know to prepare myself.

It’s been a busy few weeks, she had her TURBT and then catheter in place for a week which needed quite a lot of support from me as she was nervous about changing bags and stuff. Then had an urology CT scan which showed a blocked ureter so had a stent fitted under general the next day. 2 general anaesthetic ops a week apart so she’s been very tired! We don’t know if the blockage is related to the cancer or not. She had a UTI after the procedure which made her very confused and affected her speech which was a bit scary, but antibiotics seem to have sorted that out. She’s actually seemed more like her old self the last couple of days which is nice.

I am still worried about my ability to care for her if she does need prolonged treatment, I’m disabled myself and a wheelchair user and have very limited energy. But I guess we’ll cross that bridge if we come to it. Sending love and positive thoughts to everyone on the forums.

  • Hello  . It is always hard trying not to overthink things when waiting for results. Once mum has seen her doctor, things will become clearer. A plan will be put in place and you can then organise the way forward. Glad to know she is feeling a bit better after what she has been through. I hope all goes well Tuesday. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.
