Good morning,
This is my first time posting, my husband was diagnosed with bladder cancer last year, he has had two turbs and has G3 T1 non muscle invasive. First I must say that reading this forum has helped me so much this last year so thank you. My husband has his 9th BCG treatment on 6th August. Had the usual urgency problems but now has got much worse. He is getting up nearly every half hour during night with urgency to urinate but it’s not a lot. It is slightly better during the day but still a lot more than ever before. We thought he might have an infection so doctor tested and it came back borderline. He is obviously exhausted as not sleeping. I just wondered if this was normal after BCG treatment.
Hi starsign
Haven't had bcg myself but can sympathise with the peeing. Before my TURBT and muscle invasive diagnosis I used to stop drinking water or any liquid after 7pm in the hope that I wouldn't be up too much during the night. I told my doctor this and he told me that's the wrong course of action. If you don't drink fluids the body will find them from other sources such as your muscles and even your hair. The body has an adequate supply of water up to 75% . However if this becomes depleted then you risk dehydration and other issues. If he is borderline for infection then I would have asked for antibiotics. It's important to keep the whole liquid processing going to keep kidney function going. So the moral is drink as much as you can, reducing I take doesn't help.
Best wishes
Mark
