I have my RC booked for 29/7. Im not nervous or apprehensive at all,in fact I can't wait. Its just that time seems to have gone on a go slow or work to rule or something. It seems like a month since the 1st of July and I have 3 weeks more to wait. Ive never been the most patient,or indeed a patient patient! But its doing my head in this hanging about. Sorry, rant over

  • Hi,The waiting is frustrating. You will need patience for the recovery though as it can drag on.Best wishes for your surgery.Jane

  • I sympathise with you although I had no such wait. I was rang on the Thursday and had rc on the following Wednesday

  • Wow Mark,That was quick,I was on the urgent list but still had to wait over 3 weeks. The anaesthetist said the planning was a logistical nightmare.Jane

  • Hi Jane

I think it was to do with me being pulled off the chemo because of the clots.  I still had my third session to do but it was deemed to risky. In saying that I still didn't expect it so quickly

    Best wishes

  • Ranting is fine! If you are fit enough, now is the time to do those jobs you won't be able to do for a while after the op. I did quite a lot of gardening in the run up to my RC. Also cooked a few mini snacks to put in the freezer (like cheese scones), prepared instructions for Mr T, got a few books in ready and so on. Hope you find something to fill in the time!

  • I was about to suggest the same thing.I kept busy with jobs that I knew I would be unable to do post op.Cleaning the drains was one as well as gardening although I wasn’t well enough to do anything too heavy. It all helped to take my mind off the surgery and the time went quickly.Jane
