Hi all,
Had my 3rd Turbt on 4th April (2nd small area of recurrence)
Surgeon after op said no problems and looked like low aggression, superficial. Just had a call from one of the CSN team, to say Grade2pTa but this time of the higher risk type so recommending BCG course.
Must admit to being a bit knocked for 6, I'm sure some of you guys must have had similar journeys ? I'm supposed to be going on holiday for 3 weeks on 6th June - expect that will need to be cancelled.
Anyway feeling rather down,
Jane
Hi Jane. Not the news you were hoping for but more of a setback than anything else. Hopefully the BCG will do its job and you can get away on a holiday. Best wishes going forward.
I can understand your feelings about that news. Unfortunately BC is prone to recur, and progress, so well worthwhile stepping on it before it can get worse. My brother was in a similar position, had several recurrences and they considered BCG when it became G2, but they decided to wait one more and next one was back to G1. Eventually he became clear long enough to be discharged.
They do sometimes wait for healing after TURBT before starting BCG, so you might be able to get your holiday in first. Best wishes.
Thank you tessawill, turbt was 3 weeks ago. So I expect that they will want to start in the next couple of weeks ? I was a bit surprised to hear about the bcg as after the first recurrence they just did Turbt and waited for 3 months and that Cystoscopy was clear. Then this second small recurrence, thought they might do another mitomycin. Still I trust they know what the best course is.
Thank you Riley, it's the third holiday attempt in the last year. I like all here desperately want to get some resemblance of normality back. My hobby is wildlife photography and these holidays were a big part of that. On top of all this my beloved brother was diagnosed a few weeks after my bc last year with MND and this has progressed very rapidly and he will not last the year in reality. My worries seem to be rather self indulgent compared to the nightmare he is enduring.
Hi Bicyclegirl, my heart goes out to you. I am sure you feel heartbroken about your brothers prognosis and what you all have to face. Then to have the recurrence happen and the bcg treatment to deal with, you surely need a holiday. I think once you get used to the news of needing the bcg , and you have been told the timeline for treatment, you will get a break from treatment to organise a holiday. I went to berlin after my first 9 to watch the euros. so bcg started in feb and after number 9 i went in july . I have recorded my bcg journey in my profile, just for reference as we all react differently.
Please dont feel you are self indulgent , you and your brother are both going through a very tough time , although different diagnosis. I wish you love and care to give you strength. Take care x
Much love Angela x
