Hi all I finally got my date through to see the consultant at New Cross hospital 21st March, i know its 2 weeks away but the relief in knowing someone is going to see me , that the wheels are moving , the feeling is great and after the last few days ..thought i was dying , I should have gone to A&E but to be honest I was too scared to be even touched but thankfully with more cefalexin and higher dose morphine patches I'm recovering , but I was scared. All I have to do is get stronger for the 21st and see where we go from then . How long did you guys wait in-between consultant appointment and operation?? I guess everywhere is different ...thank you all for the support and kindness ...kerry xx

  • Hi Kerry, and if you're new a warm welcome to this most friendly helpful and supportive place. Time gaps do vary around the country and we all agree waiting is the hardest thing. The good news is that if you are actually found to have bladder cancer, it is by and large one of the most treatable kinds. Whatever happens it's pretty sure someone will have had or be currently having a similar experience to share.

Now you're here don't ever be a strangerGrinning

  • Hi Kerry,I’m glad you have a got a date to see the consultant.I waited a month between seeing the surgeon and the cystectomy.Love Jane xx

  • Glad to hear things are moving. Be prepared that the consultant may want some more tests done, for up to date picture. Hosp vary in how they arrange surgical lists etc. At my final 'decision' appt, I expected to be given a date, but was told they'd be in touch soon. After a week or so of waiting I chased them up, to be told current lists a month ahead, to be followed up next day with a call giving me just one week's notice. Best wishes for 21st.

  • Thank you for the info , anything is better than feeling lost , having a general jist of what could be helps you cope x

  • Hi Kerry,How is the pain and infection now ? Love Jane xx
