Hello to everyone Oldies and Newbies
I haven't been very active on the forum for a few weeks but I have been reading all the posts. I can see that we have lots of new folk on the forum who are right at the start of their BC journeys. I hope this forum is able to support them as it has supported me. ️
I have finished my 2nd Maintenance round of BCG (nos 10, 11 and 12) The side effects have definitely ramped up and been more long lasting and I can see why folk decide to quit the course! I'm very glad that there were only 3 in this round. I'm waiting for dates for my next cystoscopy and annual CT scan now.
Sending love to you all, Ade xx

Hi Trevor, does your hospital take biopsies routinely even if the cystoscopy is clear? All mine have been done due to the dreaded red patches.
Love Ade xx
Hi Ade,
I don't have flexi cystcopies, just biopsies under GA each time. I've had 6 so far ( plus two TURBTs).
I've only had one cystcopy without being knocked out and that was my first one back in December 2022.
I've no Idea why this is different or even if it is different, although I don't really mind too much. My last one was 10th Jan and I should start my BCG again soon all being well.
I've had those pesky red patches due to BCG also.
I guess there isn't a one rule fits all scenario with cancer treatments.
Looking at my schedule, I should have two more under GA this year (April and July) then my check ups go to every six month's to follow my BCGs. Which will be welcome for sure.
Take care.
Trevor
That's exactly how I am Angela, I almost forget about bc, but it's just at the back of my mind. Hope all good with you at least we are in February now xx
Hi both
I'm coming to the end of my BCG induction (had no. 5 today) and reading about your experience of side effects.
I too have noticed some tiredness and lethargy, sometimes just part of a day, sometimes nothing, sometimes feeling wiped out all day. I had a sore throat and cough for a couple of weeks at the start but that cleared up and hasn't returned.
Did you feel continued side effects in the gaps between your courses or only during the weeks you were being treated? I'm looking at returning to work in a few weeks, and so I'll be having the rest of my course while working.
Thanks!
Hi Mark, I'm happy to know that I have been a help to you ️ I am so grateful for this forum for all the support I receive, so I'm trying to pass on my experiences and positivity. Hope you are well.
Love Ade xx
