Hi Pegasus, my husband was advised to stop  BCG after his 11th session due to  very bad side effects. This was in May 2022 and his scopes since have been clear. He has now moved to 6 monthly check ups. There has been no mention of any further BCG treatments. Being clear after the first 6 and with 5 further maintenance doses perhaps they feel that is sufficient? Obviously each case can vary so I'm sure you will follow advice for your particular situation.

I wasn't offered BCG as mine was muscle-invasive. And having my bladder removed wasn't as scary as people think. But I thought I would pass on something I read in the Guardian today (G2 section about recent research on the brain microbiome), which may interest all those on BCG treatment.

Apparently doctors are now seeing a reduction in risk of Dementia after BCG treatment for bladder cancer, so you may all be having something with even longer-term benefits!

That’s interesting,Dementia is so cruel anything that helps reduce the risk must be beneficial.I nursed my mother with end stage dementia and it was heartbreaking when she no longer recognised us.Jane
