Hi my dad has been diagnosed with grade 3 bladder cancer muscle invasive, was told by CT scan no spread which we felt positive about , today we went for an appointment to now be told they’ve looked at his scan again in mdt and are saying lymph nodes around pelvis look abnormal & now he has to have a pet scan to double check before they say he can have the op for bladder removal, this has hit me for 6 I’m so scared , my dad is acting brave but I feel like we’ve been put back to square one after feeling so hopeful going into the appointment today , thought he be getting his date for surgery instead now we being told something completely different to what we were originally told . Don’t help my dad was fobbed off for 6 months by the gp being told was nothing to worry about even though I said over and over I was concerned it was cancer, just need to open up I think , I’m holding so much in & I’m scared :(

  • Hi  . Sorry to hear the news you didn't want to hear. It looks like a setback, but at least they have identified the problem and hopefully they will be able to resolve things going forward. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi Owen777,

So sorry to hear about your dad and his diagnosis, it’s good they are being thorough, try not to worry too much, he is in the system now and once they have all the results a treatment plan can be put in place.
The support on here is great and there are many who have been through similar, it is just very difficult to absorb everything and you feel you constantly want answers. I was told I had possible lymph node abnormalities and also had further scans, I went on to have chemo and then surgery and am now cancer free with regular check ups.

Your dad is now on his own journey and I wish him all the best
