Well at 9am today I had the 6th of my BCG induction treatments, only side effect has been the urgency to wee. Now 7pm and things have settled down now for the check up under GA hope all is clear. Hope everyone is doing ok. Love Lynn x
Thank you for your reply. My 1st 2 of my first contact with this treatment were kept in 2 hours each with no problems. The 3rd was in for 2 hours but suddenly I reacted with 40.0c temp., severe shivering and coughing. This lasted for 4 hrs after about one hour of voiding urine. The rest of treatment was reduced to 1 hr. Adverse effects were still very flu - like and as I stated earlier this has continued for about three weeks. Fatigue has been severe but less in the last week.
Hope this helps. In relation to my exercise advice is “don’t overdo it! Without giving any parameters or goals. I know it is difficult at my age.
This is really useful I'm on 5 of initial 6 BCG.each one different and varying levels of discomfort in terms of when they started and eased. Day one -three pain passing urine and no ability to hold anything an after the 2 hours.Tha fatigue has surprised me I'm a fit 52 but have not managed a gym class throughout and am sleeping and napping extensively. Hoping it will pass after the last installation but these posts show that it might have a long tail.
My first six doses late last year, followed by the three maintenance doses in April of this year. The fatigue generally seems to hit me very hard and for a number of weeks. I am not sure I would describe myself as “fit” before all of this started last year, but I had experienced no significant health problems in my 60 years. I suspect the tumour was growing in my bladder even before 2023 as I had been typically exhausted much earlier and was having much difficulty just getting through each day. I immediately felt much better with much more energy after recovering from the TURBT last August but my energy level has not been very high since starting the BCG treatment.
I experienced minor side effects during the first three of the six induction treatments last year - some mild fatigue. This changed with the latter three treatments as severe fatigue set in, but no bleeding and very minimal burning during urination and chills. The symptoms were much more severe during the three maintenance treatments in April even though I did have an extra week between the second and third treatments.
