Hi support team
Well my 1st TURBT is tomorrow morning, early start for me. Up at 5am as I have to be at the ward by 6.45am. Don't suppose I'll sleep much anyway. Naturally I'm nervous even though I want it and need it to happen. Any words of wisdom to help me calm down would be much appreciated.
Best wishes to you all

Hi Bicyclegirl . Just look forward to your tea and toast when you wake up. Don't worry too much about the actual procedure. You will know nothing about it. Talking to the nurses one minute and then waking up in recovery. Best wishes.
Hi Jane, I can remember waiting to go to theatre for the first turbt. I was a nervous wreck, and logged on to the forum to not feel so alone. Of course the lovely folk on here replied almost instantly, reassuring me they had my back, wishing me luck. It really helped me, It is something i will never forget.
The very best of luck for tomorrow, we will be beside you holding your hand to keep you steady. You will get through it.
Keep in touch

Bicyclegirl,
I am sure you will be excellent hands! Just try to relax and let the experts look after you. It will be over in a flash, and you will be on the path to treatment. Unfortunately my hospital does not provide toast, so hope you can get some.

Best wishes Jane. Remember you’ll be on Hospital time tomorrow, that’s very different from normal time . You start when they are ready which from my experience could be anywhere between 10.00and 4.00 even though you arrive at 6.45 . The best bit is that you’ll sleep through the whole event . When you emerge you might get a slice of toast and a coffee. And rrreeelllaaaxxx.
Hi Jane
Good luck, it will be over before you know it, the waiting is the worst bit
I had to stay in overnight because I went down in the afternoon, even though I was there from 7am
So an overnight bag just in case, slippers, dressing gown, toiletries, snacks etc.
Also a long phone charging lead
I took a drinking bottle as you need to drink plenty and it was easier than filling up cups from a jug
Some people leave with a catheter so loose clothing, just in case
Much love, Tina XX
Hey Bicyclegirl, all will go in a flash, hardest bit was trying to get the surgical socks on.! And the waiting… but it’s the first step and as you say it has to be done. All will be fine for you, maybe pack some ear plugs, some of those on the ward snore terribly OR was that me..?!!!
best wishes to you, take deep breaths

Hi Judoo , I stayed overnight for 1st turbt coz of late afternoon operation. There were some wonderful characters on the ward. The ones snoring, the ones trying to escape, the helpers . It was a strange but lovely experience. Definitely kept me occupied and distracted haha

Halofan, I had a sleepover with both of mine, and yes it was an experience, I ended up being the helper as I was the youngest of 6 on the ward, but I didn’t mind…just hooked my pee bag on my dressing gown belt.
the second one spent most of my stay in the corridor as they needed the space, slightly quieter until shift change.
