I had routine day surgery for kidney stone removal on 15th Jan - i think they were made of kryptonite as three lots of lithotripsy failed. So I waited about 20 months for day surgery. After the surgery the Urologist explained to me that they had found some bladder lesions on cystoscopy (unexpected) an that they had sent biopsy to pathology. and they would call me in 2-3 weeks after the MDT meeting. So I have been waiting 3 weeks for the results. So exactly three weeks later - today I get a call from the hospital for an urgent appointment with Urology Surgeon tomorrow afternoon. So this appointment is with a name surgeon who specialises in Bladder cancer and in the oncology outpatients. So I think it is pretty clear that I have Bladder cancer - and tomorrow I will no doubt find out the stage and grade and treatment plan. Its all very sudden - and I know more that i should for my own good - I am a Nurse with over 30 years experience. Taking my lovely husband to the appointment with me. Have pretty much lost all my focus since 15th Jan and motivated to do very little - except walk my dog. Reflecting back I probably had symptoms of bladder cancer - but I knew I had Kidney stones and the lithotripsy etc all cause blood in urine, pain etc and so it was reasonable to attach the symptoms to the diagnosis I already had.
Hi Wenol and welcome to the group although sorry to hear you may have bladder cancer. The positive is that it has been identified and can now be treated. Bladder cancer can be treated successfully. Once you see your doctor tomorrow you will know a lot more and once you find out we will be able to help and support you going forward.
