Not for a good surgeon. Can one choose to go there?

I wouldn't worry too much about having open, rather than robotic surgery. The experience of the surgeon is the important factor. I have a very neat vertical scar from just above navel extending about 8" down to pubic bone. Plus a couple of other small ones from drains/stents.

I agree.My surgeon is a specialist in robotic Neo bladder surgery but didn’t advocate that for me.I was down for all robotic surgery but ended up having a general incision as well.My scars are very pale now.The open scar starts 3 inches above the navel and ends just below it.Jane
