How long in hospital after TURBT?

Hi Sportie7 . If on the afternoon list it is unlikely you will go home the same day. They have to keep you under observation for a few hours Also they  make sure your catheter is running clear and then you are able to pee freely without catheter. By the evening the doctors have gone home so no one to discharge you. It may be possible to get out same day but prepare for an overnight. Best wishes.

Hi Sportie7,It’s most likely you will stay in overnight.At my hospital you had to be able to pass urine 3 times after the catheter was removed before being allowed home.I hope it all goes well.Best wishes Jane 

It is preferable to spend the night in hospital after the operation. Doctors don't like it when patients come back at 2am because of pain, bleeding or retention !

I went in at 7am but still had to stay overnight.  Bring toiletries, gown, slippers and long lead phone charger just in case. Good luck.  Tina X

Yes I was booked in early but still had an overnight stay, it wasn't too bad and the next day they like you to pee OK and check you out. Although hard to sleep try and see it as a little rest and I found the relief of it being done as I was so anxious, I was well ready to just sleep.

Hi Catherine. Thank you. I was able to get home. Had a bit of a rough night with sweats, shivers and insomnia??. Feeling much better now I have slept and had something more to eat this morning. 

This is how I felt. Relief that it had been done.
