I was reading that there is a worldwide shortage of BCG for BC treatment, is it still a problem in the U.K., and are patients still getting it?
Hi Leo. There have been occasional shortages but we have not seen any reports lately. Best wishes.
I'm also on an American forum - American Bladder Cancer Society - and they're often talking about BCG shortages.. needing to move state and so on to improve access to BCG. I get the impression that France (where I am) and the UK are doing ok BCG wise
There are only a couple of companies that produce BCG and so when production is disrupted for any way it causes a worldwide shortage. In the event of shortages alternatives are used such as Mitomycin and Gemcitabine. These are chemo treatments as opposed to immunotherapy but can have the same results. Best wishes.
