Husband had cystoscope 3 weeks ago when they found the lesion. Since then a CT scan and a pre op. CT showed no evidence of spread.
He is still waiting to get an operation date for the TURBT procedure.
My question is how long is the usual wait? The consultant said about 2 weeks but it’s already been 3.
How long did you all have to wait? Should I do anything to check what’s going on.?
Thank you,
Hi Layeney . Waiting is always an anxious time and something we always find hard. Things always depend on the availability of the hospital. He should have a pre op assessment first and then the op should follow shortly after. It's always a worry thinking things are growing but several weeks should not make much difference in the great scheme of things. Once the TURBT is done there is another anxious wait for results. The waiting is the worst but once a treatment plan is in place things tend to get easier as there is something positive to focus on. Best wishes.
Hi Layeney . A TURBT is a fairly straightforward op . Usually done in day surgery but prepare for an overnight. If you do not hear anything try phoning the urology waiting list office list at the hospital. It does help if you have a definite date. Best wishes.
They said a few weeks to me but it was 8 weeks before the TURBT. It is worrying but normal to wait 6-8 weeks. Love Tina X
Thank you ..it has only been 3 weeks. I feel better about it now.
