Bladder biopsy

I had a rigid cystoscopy carried out on 18 August. I haven't had any results so far. I did have this same procedure last year and it was clear. My problem is the aftermath of this procedure. Previous to having it done I did suffer from BCG cystitis but the 10 days that followed were great, I lost all urgency to pee and no pain. However overnight into the 11th day I had crampy pains, like trapped wind in the lower abdomen and since then I although I don't have the pain I do have a heaviness feeling in the left side of my lower abdomen which can be quite debilitating

I did see the GP yesterday thinking it might be something separate from my bladder. She examined me and there were no bumps or lumps so I can only think it is the rigid cystoscopy aftermath. I am due soon to see my nurse specialist soon so will have to take it up with her. I was just wondering if there was anyone out there who has had something similar.

  • Hi  . Is it possible you have been a bit too energetic after your cystoscopy and aggravated the wound? We know that can happen. Hopefully your CNS may have some answers. Hope all goes well with your results. Best wishes.

  • Thanks for your reply rily, you could well be right, although I did hold back on the walking straight after my procedure I did get going again a couple of days later. I did ring the CNS this afternoon basically to find out the results of the biopsy and raise this discomfort issue. At first she said the results were taking longer than usual. On closer inspection though she said she did have the results on her screen and thankfully they were negative so just inflammation, which of course I was pleased to hear.

I am still having monthly Ialuril instillations which start again at the end of this month. I'm clinging onto the fact that this problem will disappear as soon as it appeared. Thanks again.

  • Hi Chris. Good to know you finally got some news, and good news at that. Hopefully the discomfort will clear up in  time. Best wishes going forward.
