My latest flexi - cystocopy

Hi everyone,

Just thought i'd share my latest flexible cystocopy experience that i had today.

Firstly, i dread having them. This one was very well done though. The nurse took it a little slower, Explained everything, and warned me when i might feel a little jip during the procedure.

A small cancer patch was identified and the nurse said she would laser it there and then if that was ok with me. I agreed to having it done and it was all over in two/three minutes. Hardly felt anything it was amazing to see the cancer turn to fluffy cotton like matter before my eyes (on screen).

Apparently at my last flexi-cysto they didn't laser the cancer away. They used 'electro' something or other.

I have my fingers crossed for everyone dealing with cancer. I always speak about how this forum helped me so much through the early days. And even helps me now whenever i remember the kind words and support sent my way. Absolutely priceless and invaluable and never forgotten.

Bless you all.....Del.

  • Hi  . Great to know things were zapped and all looks ok. I don't mind the flexis as I have had numerous ones over the years. I had a recent dodgy flexi but I have got to go back again for another check. I wish they had done the same to me. Wishing you well with your future good health. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Cheers Rily, yes i guess i'm lucky they did it there and then. All in one go so to speak. I hope they can deal with yours as they dealt with mine.

I was determined this time not to groan so much...lol. I managed better by trying to concentrate on staying relaxed.

    Good luck to you mate...Del.

  • Hi Deloo,Good to hear you had the area lasered at once.Sounds like you had diathermy last time the laser seems to be used more these days judging from this group.Love and best wishes Jane

  • Hello Jane, diathermy sounds familiar. You are probably right. The laser was virtually painless and quick.

    Thanks...Del.

  • Hi I'm in the same boat as you , had a cystoscopy yesterday . The nurse wasn't happy with a certain area said it looked inflamed . Going back in 6-8 weeks for another look . Had 21 BCG treatments and everything was going well until now .To say i'm a bit cheesed off is putting it mildly, but head down and crack on as they say .All the best.

  • Hi Batmanfan,

i get the 'cheesed off' bit. I had two clear flexi-cysto's and was about to be put on 6 monthly checks when the first of the returning cancers showed themselves. Then at my most recent one i had another. It would be great to not have any returns but this can be the nature of cancer i suppose. The luck is that they're seeing it and deleting it so to speak.

'Head down and crack on', exactly that. It's all we can do really mate. These forums help to let a bit of 'cheesed off' out.

They've been absolutely priceless to me.

All the best to you too...Del.

  • Cheers ,it was a shock everything was going so well .Hopefully it's just inflamed after BCG .

  • Sorry to hear this.I hope it’s nothing serious.Best wishes Jane

  • Hello Bantamfan, I share your frustrations. My last cystoscopy showed a red area. Last year I had three red areas and went for a biopsy. It eventually came back as negative, they did say initially they thought it was purely inflammation from the BCG. I had another doctor do my latest cystoscopy and he said don't beat yourself up over it because I think it's just inflammation. However of course he wants to err on the side of caution and I do get that. So now got to prepare to  be knocked out for another round of biopsies. Take care.
