Hi all,
Not posted for a while.
Had a flexible cystoscopy today (monday 17th) and the Dr doing it had a good look round my bladder and thought he'd found something. He asked the nurse to go and find someone senior for a second opinion. Very quickly another Dr walked in and encouraged the first Dr to have a good look around and asked him to focus on 'this point here', then asked him to focus on this point here too. He then told me he had found some cancer and was going to laser it away !!!!
He set the laser at 10 and asked if that was ok ? I told him 'Yes fine' but my rather childlike squeals gavit away that it was actually a bit sharp for me. So he had the nurse turn it down to 5. Still uncomfortable but a lot more bearable. What struck me at this point was how good this Dr was. I, and my comfort level, were most important to him. What a great exposure for the young Dr by his side.
Sorry for long story but i was so impressed at how this Dr treated me. So experienced. So reassuring. And he lasered away the cancer in about 10 minutes. No after effects whatsoever. Brilliant.
A little disappointed that it returned but very happy it was spotted and dealt with. I have a follow up Cystoscopy in 3 months.
I wanted to share this and I post this for informations sake.
Thanks...Del.
Hi Deloo . Good to hear from you. Bit of mixed fortune. Sorry to hear it may have returned. Great to know how well it was dealt with. Normally in these cases, you are referred for treatment at a later date. Really good of your doctors to deal with it straight away. Best wishes going forward.
Thanks Rily and all,
He found a couple of tiny spots. He said they were low level and would be the same size if my cystoscopy was 3 months later. He decided immediately to laser them. He showed me on the screen. While he was lasering i didn't watch. I was busy trying to stay relaxed and didn't really want to see if there might be blood. Once he was finished I thanked him and said is there much blood ? He said 'No - have a look'. Blimey... that part of my bladder looked like a bomb site...lol.
All done though till next time.
Thanks and best wishes to all...Del.
