Just an update on my situation ... had follow-up cystoscopy in July, 6 weeks after end of 6 weeks Mitomycin treatment, and all clear. Felt wonderful!
Yesterday had my second 3 month follow up cystoscopy and there were several "sort of red areas" showing, which to my untrained eye did look like inflammation, one of them was quite large. The consultant said it could be irritation from the Mitomycin treatment but I can't remember seeing this at the first 3 month cystoscopy.
They have said I need to have a biopsy to check on them, which means another overnight stay ... bummer!
Obviously I would say they are making sure there is no Carcinoma in Situ.
Just wondered if anybody else had large red areas on a follow up cystoscopy after Mitomycin treatment and how it turned out.
Thanks a lot for any info.
Keep well

Hi Kathy. These suspicious red areas come up quite often on here and in many cases turn out to be inflammation. It is difficult to visually differentiate inflammation from early BC, so hence the follow up checks. I have had a few false alarms over the years and know how worrying these things can be. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.
Hi Kathy, my OH had Mitomycin and has had two rounds of red patches in the 5 years or so since. Both times they have decided to get him back after 3 months instead of 6 and it has turned out to be non problematic, so he is back to 6 monthly. Not sure if age makes a difference, he is in his late 70s now.

I hope it’s not too long to wait. It’s a shame you have to go back but they do have to biopsy them.I used to get red patches all the time before cancer especially after pre cancerous changes were found. They are often due to inflammation but they have to make sure.Love Jane xx
