Hi Everyone
I'm new, so please bear with me.
My partner, 45, has had a Cystoscopy, and a 1 cm growth was found. He said that there were smaller growths around it.
He's having TURBT procedure, next week. he's also saying, he's getting lower back pain, on one side. And the urgency to pass water, frequently. He's had to finish work, early, as he's also getting very tired.
Has anyone experienced this before ?
Its all very overwhelming, and could do with some advice please.
Just to add, he has smoked, since he was 13, now 45. So Im guessing it may have be the cause.
Thanks In advance, for any information

Good afternoon em 444 and welcome. Your husband is having TURBT next week and this will help to establish the cause of the problem. I can’t comment on the back pain but it’s something to discuss with the medical team. You will be aware that the TURBT is done under anaesthesia and the findings will take a few weeks to be analysed. At that stage you will know what treatment is available. You’ll see on this forum that waiting for results is the most common problem but it’s a slow process . Best wishes, J
Hi em444 and a welcome from me too. Just to add to Wally's reply. Lower back pain and frequent urination are common symptoms of bladder cancer and the subject comes up often. Try not to read anything sinister in to it. Best wishes.
Hi em444,Welcome to this friendly group. Some people do get back pain and tiredness can happen too. It’s always worth dropping in a urine sample for testing just in case there is an infection that can cause these symptoms and frequency of urination.Smoking is a risk factor for bladder cancer but not everyone who gets it has smoked.Once your partner has the TURBT and the results come back then a treatment plan will be put in place. It Is overwhelming at the beginning but we are all here to help and offer support to you and your partner.Best wishes Jane
