Hi

Just had my TURBT yesterday. All went well, no catheter used, but now getting excruciating pain in my urethra when peeing. I Know it's only short lived, but makes me not want to drink so I don't have to wee !  Urine is normal colour now. Is this normal - do I just have to live with it for a while? Just on paracetamol which doesn't seem to do much.

  • Hi . Pain when peeing after a TURBT is normal. I remember it well. Your urethra has undergone a trauma with the rigid cystoscope. It usually subsides after a few days. It really is important to keep drinking water. At least 2 litres a day. This is to clear out any blood and debris. If you do not do this, then blockages can happen and cause further problems. Also, not drinking concentrates the urine and irritates the bladder. If things don't ease off, then contact the medics. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi JimG,It will get better but you must keep drinking. As rily says you will have more problems if you don’t.I used to find a hot water bottle over the bladder helped with the pain.I hope you feel better soon.Best wishes Jane
