Cystectomy done on 17th

Hi jenlids. Good to know you have had your operation, and it is understandable you are feeling a bit down after such a big procedure. I am sure others who have been through this will be along to offer some advice. I hope your recovery goes well. Best wishes.

Hi Jenlids,I’m glad to hear you got through the op safely.Sorry that you are having a few problems though.I wasn’t warned about the leaking either.I had it for several weeks but when I mentioned it at the follow up appointment the surgeon said it can happen and he wasn’t concerned.I had severe constipation but others get diarrhoea,the bowels are usually unsettled after surgery.Hopefully things will start improving soon.Love and best wishes Jane x

Feeling a bit more positive today. Been awake most of the night with wind pains but luckily i found some Windease in my handbag. Also leakage has eased. Pity party over thank god. Thanks for listening 

Hi jenlids,I’m glad the leakage is improving.I hope the wind gets better too and you can get some rest.It does get better.Recovery takes time but you will gradually build up strength and the fatigue will lessen.Take care Love Jane x

I think mine came out after 14 days.It was easier without them.Love Jane 

Hate the thought of having to stay here that long 

I was in hospital for about 12 days and they took the stents out after about 9 days I think it was. Had read something about a scan being necessary to make sure that all was ok before they came out but didn't get that, the stoma nurse just removed them on one particular visit to the ward. Think they do send patients home with the stents in sometimes and remove them on a community nurse visit

I just checked my old discharge letter and mine came out after 14 days.The stoma nurse removed them in their department and I didn’t have a scan either.It was easier to manage the stoma without them.Love Jane

Mine came out after 9-10 days. I was still in hospital, didn’t have a scan and the nurse just whipped them out one day!
