Hi all, Got my appointment for my chemo next week after my 3 ops. Luckily my tumour was low grade but as big as my bladder. Feeling a bit nervous of the prospect.
Hi Lawrence, if rily is right as to it being Mitomycin into the bladder my husband has had a few of these and it really is nothing to worry about. The nurses are very unblushing. The routine at the hospital where he has had his, is to undress in a side room and the nurse places a disposable sheet over the area with another one on top, the lower one has a hole in it for access. When they have got the vial of medication all ready they insert a catheter [tube] and squirt the medication in through it. You will be advised how long to try not to pee for, it has worked well for my husband even though he was never able to hold it as long as recommended. I would suggest you consider protecting car seat or wearing Tena pants just in case, as it can be quite irritant causing inability to hang on. Do take care with the washing instructions especially as soon as possible after any 'accident' you might have, as it is very irritant to outside skin too.
Hope that takes away any anxiety rather than adding to it. It didn't make my OH feel ill in any way just tired afterwards.
