Hi All
My recent PET CT scan shows there is probably no bladder disease (I had/have st 1 g3 tumours)....nurse said won't know for sure until they they have a look in the bladder, but I am seeing this as a positive.
However , an indeterminate lesion of 1cm from a previous CT scan now shows up between 1.2 - 1.4cm and have been told this is likely cancer. It is based just outside and underneath the bladder and just above the prostate...I had my kidney removed due to cancer. Show I think its along the urinary tract....
The nurse was still pushing for me to have my bladder removed , which I continue to resist...so they have a team meeting on Monday and will ring me with a proposed plan. Having spoken to the surgeon a few weeks ago he suggested they will try radiation , not only for the lesion but also the whole bladder , which he said has rarely been done. The nurse also mentioned a type of chemo via a pill...
Does any one have experience of a cancerous lesion where mine is and of radiation/oral pill treatment? What is the risk , if any , of ED following radiation?
Many thanks
Pienmash
Hi Pienmash. Sorry to hear the CT showed something dubious. Hopefully you will know more after the MDT meeting. Pelvic radiation can cause infertility, but not necessarily impotence. I had radical radiotherapy over 6 weeks. ED did set in at first but gradually got better and thigs started working again. Best wishes.
