Sorry, I'm not sure if you still have normal bladder or not? I had RC & neobladder & need to self cath to fully empty. Was a bit strange at first, but never uncomfortable. I can imagine that urethra could be sensitive & sphincter may not like being passed through. Is the discomfort general, internal/external? What sort & size of catheters are you using?

Yes....maybe I should have explained more. 

I have a normal bladder but I've had pain and retention since my TURBT in April. 

No idea about size etc. Tried to look on pack but none of it made any sense to me. 

The pain is pretty intense for at least an hour afterwards.

I thought that was you! I wonder if your bladder is going into spasm? Can't think of any other reason for intense pain. Can you post a pic of the pack label or describe them? There will be something that says CH 14 or other similar number. If there is external pain, could be an allergy (though I've never heard of that happening).

Haven’t used those myself, but they look pretty similar to the Coloplast compact that I do use. I use size 14, which is wider than the 12 that you have & I prefer that. Suggest you ask your specialist nurse about it. Best wishes for solving the problem.
