Hello All, Info required from the learned group. I went into Hospital yesterday for a Turbt to discover why I have been having troubles bleeding in urine. Last flexi I was told found whit shreds in urethra. Had my procedure and kept in overnight. A little discomfort as usual and a poor nights sleep because of the catheter. When Urology doctor saw me she spoke in a mixture of gobbledegook and techspeak is I didn’t understand what she was saying only I would be seeing my usual consultant in a few weeks. Discharge said I had Prostatic urethral resection biopsy and urethral dilation. Can any one unlock that diagnosis? Regards Garviv
Hi Garviv,I hope you are feeling more comfortable ? The prostatic resection involves cutting away a section of the prostate if it’s enlarged and causing problems with urination. They usually dilate the urethra when it becomes too narrow and you have a stricture. It is gently stretched and that can help to pass urine more easily.I’ve had it done a few times over more than 30 years of bladder problems.Best wishes Jane x
Hi Garviv,I’m glad to hear you are feeling better and that my explanation was helpful.I used to find that I passed more bits after a dilation.Hopefully now you have had these procedures they should help.Fingers crossed you don’t have to wait too long for the biopsy results.Best wishes Jane x
