I had my TURBT on Wed and unfortunately did not get feedback from surgeon even though I stayed overnight and had bladder irrigation. On discharge the following day was informed I would get Appt with MDT to discuss histology. I asked staff nurse why I did not have Mitoymicin she was unable to explain. Slightly disappointed with surgeon or another member of his team didn't let me know how surgery had gone.
When I had my first TURBT, surgeon said he'd pop back but didn't - although I generously thought maybe I'd been asleep. Once I was properly in the system under a specialist consultant, I did always see someone soon after any procedure. If it's any comfort, they really can't tell you anything significant until they get the path report anyway.
I'm afraid it's now an unpleasant wait to find out the recommendations for treatment. Best wishes.
I hate/d it too. It's the worst part in my opinion. I had the overnight irrigation and catheter the first 3 times as the doctor had to remove quite a bit of cancer, lots of bleeding. After that, because of frequent check-ups, the regrowths are found early, so that the cancer is tiny like a pin-head and the operation is much easier, very little bleeding etc. TURBT 4 and 5, I had no catheter / irrigation post op and went home the same day. I hope to continue in this fashion.
