My partner has been diagnosed with bile duct cancer

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet.

I'm sure you'll find the other members of the group will be only to happy to share their experiences of bile duct cancer with you so, if there's anything you want to ask, just start a new post with your questions.

When you feel up to it, it would be great if you could put something about your partner's diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • My partner  he is now 72 was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in Nov 21 he was given a whipple procedure within a couple of weeks as it was very early stages we were told the outcome should be positive..he was then given six months chemo in tablet form. Then he had a ct scan which was clear. In Feb 2025 he had his routine ct scan we were shocked when told the cancer had returned to the resection site and also metastatised to his stomach. My partner was feeling well.

So he embarked on 2 lots of chemo and immunotherapy for 6 months.

    • His cancer had improved and had shrunk but not completely.  He has now been put on durvalumab immunotherapy once a month with 3 monthly scans.
