Hi, i had a liver resection and bile duct reconstruction in July 2023 fir bile duct cancer and was left with some right sided abdominal discomfort. Since March of this year the pain has escalated to varying but almist constsnt abdominal and back pain. The surgeon and GP think this is nerve damage from major surgery. I have tried lots of treatments and various medications with limited relief. Has anyone else experienced this please and any information or help with treating, and coping, eith this would be appreviated. Thank JeanJ
Hi Jeanj
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
being in constant pain for so long must be so debilitating so I do hope your GP or cancer team can sort out the right pain relief for you soon.
((hugs))
Hi Jeanj
I am sorry to hear that you are having pain from possible nerve damage after your surgery. It sounds really miserable for you.
I have neuropathy (nerve damage) from chemotherapy for endometrial cancer in 2022.
Mine is pain, altered sensation, numbness and tingling and it affects my lower legs and hands. I was prescribed amitriptyline by my GP however I did not find it did a lot and I did not like the side effects. The only thing that really helped was a physiotherapy assessment and programme. Whilst it does not cure the nerve damage, it has helped me cope with it better. I find it is better when I keep moving. Sometimes a warm bath can help. Sometimes alternating hot and cold packs can help. Sometimes things like massage can help.
Jane
