Hi my mum (71) healthy for her age, was admitted to hospital recently with a bile obstruction she had jaundice and had to get an external bile drainage bag in her left side possibly permanent all her jaundice has now cleared they couldn't get a stent in to open the bile duct as they couldn't get passed the blockage in the right side, so have got a second opinion from another hospital and are awaiting on there input but the meantime she has been discharged and we have been told she likely has secondary gallbladder cancer which came from the bile duct. Anyway they won't do chemotherapy if she can get any treatment cause of the bag incase of infection and they said it was inoperable also so what are her options in this case? Thanks
Hi Mazza77781022 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

You might find this information from Macmillan about bile duct cancer and it's treatment useful and you could also chat to the nurses on the Support Line. They don't have access to your mum's NHS records but can give general information about treatment options. They are available every day of the week from 8am to 8pm on 0808 808 0000.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you felt you could put something about your mum's diagnosis into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. I am so sorry to read about your Mum’s diagnosis, it’s good that you are getting a second opinion, it’s imperative to be treated at a specialist hospital. If you haven’t already looked at the AMMF charity website it might be worth having a look. They also have a very active & supportive Facebook page & you may find someone in a similar situation. Wishing you & your Mum find the best treatment plan,
