Morning peeps recent diagnosis out the blue bile duct cancer stage 4. I’m healthy active , swim regular etc, I’m told surgery is not an option. Spread to liver and lung. Now had all scans biopsies and have a chemo plan that sounds really tough. Will be sad to loose my locks and have side effects but if I can make another few months/ maybe year I’m ready. Question - I’m holding back telling friends at moment, only told family, some say I should come clean and tell everyone but that’s not something I want to do, Anyone else feeling pushed into telling people?

  • Hi Marley,

I'm sorry I can't offer any great insight not being in your position (my husband's was operable) but I had noticed no-one has replied to you yet.  I would only suggest don't feel under any pressure until you are ready & comfortable to tell your friends.  Once you do I am sure they will want to support you in any way they can.

Are you being treated at a specialist hospital, if not it's worth asking for a second opinion? The AMMF website gives lots of support & advice on this cancer, sadly it can sometimes be a postal lottery of what treatment you receive.   The specialist hospitals can sometimes offer trials of new treatments.   Please forgive me if you have already investigated all your options, I feel it is worth mentioning just in case.  They also have a very active Facebook page offering lots of support from people going through treatment.

It's good you are fit & active, I believe it helps going through treatment.  Take care x

  • Hi CillaJane, thank you for your response to my post. I've noted your comments, I am at a good Hospital but will check out the website you mentioned. Thank you.
