Mum recently  diagnosed with bile duct cancer.  She is 81 years old and has taken the news  a lot better than me.

  • Hi, I am so sorry to hear about your mum, my mum was diagnosed with bile duct cancer 6 weeks ago.  I would recommend that you visit the AMMF website as bile duct cancer is a very specialised field and it is crucial to get treatment started early so as to improve the outcomes for people with bile duct cancer.  Thought are with your mum.

Thank you for the reply, I will definitely look at the website.

    It is a scary time.

  • Hi. I lost my mum to the same cancer in February she was 85yrs old. I miss her dearly. My mum had other issues too. Have they put a stent in? I believe this is how they treat it. Best wishes to you both x

  • Hi, very sorry to hear about your Mams diagnosis. The doctors will normally put in a temporary stent and then see if surgery is a viable option or chemotherapy. I don’t think anyone knows how to emotionally deal with that kind of information. I know when my Dad was diagnosed it never even entered my head that an upset tummy could lead to being told he had cancer. Completely floored me.
I really wish you and your Mam all the best and will be thinking of you both x
