Hi new to the group. My husband has been diagnosed with bile duct cancer in the gallbladder and Liver.  Biopsy taken from the Liver last week now waiting for oncologist to see what treatment is available.  So scared what is going to happen, the waiting is so hard.  Can anyone advise or give us any hope.

  • I was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in November last year. I know what you and your husband are feeling.

Once I got over the initial shock, the first thing I did was find out as much as I could about cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer).

I found the charity AMMF very helpful. I requested literature from them which gave me an idea of the options available to me and be better informed for the oncology meeting.

Each case is individual, so I wouldn't presume to advise a course of action.

At the oncology meeting I knew what course I wanted to pursue and my MDT( multi disciplinary team) followed that course of treatment.

I'm April this year I had surgery, (which isn't always an option) and am slowly recovering from that, I'm also on a course of chemo.

It's a long hard road, with many tears along the way, but with the support of family and friends and most importantly a positive attitude I remain hopeful.

I don't know what the future holds for me, but I'm doing the best I can.

Good luck as you begin your journey, it's not all doom and gloom, we still laugh too.

    Wishing you all the best.

  • Thank you so much for that, I've read some bits and slowing getting my head around it and trying to stay positive that once we know what we are dealing with  we will be able to cope better.

I wish you the best. Thanks again for replying.
