Got MRI two weeks ago for bile duct enlargement. Received letter today to let me know the results are in,so can somebody please explain why my next phone apppointment is in twelve days time and not sooner ? What if the findings are serious..Regards Minerva .x
Hi Minerva
Have you been assigned a CNS (clinical nurse specialist) sometimes known as a key worker? If so, you could give them a call on Monday to find out why there is a delay.
It may well be that the appointment you've been given is the first one that's available but if you can take an appointment at a moment's notice you could advise the hospital of that so that they can put you on a waiting list for cancellations.
Another thing that could be causing a delay of 12 days between when the results are back and when you see your consultant is that all results are discussed at a multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting when all the various specialists meet to review them. These are usually only held once a week.
I know how hard waiting for results is so in the meantime try and do things that you enjoy to distract yourself.
Do come back and let us know how you get on.
