Hi all today I saw a lovely consultant and had a sigmoidoscopy. He looked at me and I knew. I have a 3-4 cm tumour so onwards and for the next line and of pokes and prods. My question to everyone is I had a bowel screening beginning of November with blood and enough symptoms to be concerned. From the I had 6/7 calls over 2 and half months where I was stressed and uncomfortable where bowel screening were messing around asking GP name then a week then can we see records then need blood test in total my first CTC was almost 3 months from that first positive test. Is this reasonable considering I've now got a 3/4cm tumour which should have been seen after 2 weeks

  • Hi  Welcome to the forum. You don't say if it's anal cancer they have diagnosed you with, but if it is from what I've seen on here most people seem to get misdiagnosed to start and have a journey as such before they get anywhere. I first went to doctors in Feb 24 was misdiagnosed to start, then diagnosed july 24, treatment started end Sept 24. Dont know if this is any help or not. Sending hugs. Xx

  • Hello

All this delay must really be so upsetting for you; on the face of it if they recognised that you had a serious problem two and a half months ago they should have been pulling out all the stops to do all the tests and getting treatment started.  But I would qualify that by saying that sometimes the type of cancer is for some reason difficult to identify.  So it would be difficult for any of us to judge in your case, but I am really sorry that you have had to go through this.

Please let us know what is due to happen next, I am hoping that once they have all the results that they will treat you quickly.  Please let us know how you get on.

    Big hug

  • Hi  ,

Another warm welcome to the MacMillan Online Community although I’m really sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis.

Has anyone told you the kind of cancer you’ve been diagnosed with? Regardless of the diagnosis though this sounds as though it’s been a very distressing time for you.

I'm really pleased that your consultant was lovely, it makes such a difference to have a good rapport with those treating you, I hope the sigmoidoscopy wasn’t too uncomfortable.

Fingers crossed things will start moving a littquicker now.

  • Hi Irene, it's just above the rectum, before the FIT test MRI and CT scan the initial plan was chemo, radiotherapy then surgery but the big meeting to discuss between consultants is Friday this week so could all change then I guess. I feel like I should be more worried, more upset but I still feel confident right now. Trying to keep the hubby upbeat he's more emotional than I am right now. Is this odd? Amanda I strange lol I have such a get it dealt with attitude at the minute I haven't even cried and don't feel overly worried. Maybe I'm broken hmmm
