Hi Everyone

Its our day today. Hope everyone is doing ok whatever stage of the journey they are in. Hugs to all. Xx

  • Hi Bungle1, we had the first ever 'Breaking the Silence' Anal Cancer Awareness Day today in Belfast. I believe it might possibly have been the first one ever (in the world!). It was so good to meet other in the same situation,  most of us too embarrassed to say 'Anal Cancer' before today. Unfortunately quite a few of us have long term after effects but comforting in a way to now have meet real 'live' people in similar situations.

Big shout out to everyone involved in making the day happen : Trisha Prosser, Allison Martin & Sarah  (Snr radiologist), Michael from the Bottom Line, RAD_CHAT ( on Instagram) & so many other professionals.

A big thank you to EVERYONE involved.

  • Hello

Thank you for this - I missed it but now I know the date.

  • Hi Bungle1,

Thanks for this. I didn’t know we had a day. Good to know !

    xx

  • Hope it was a very successful day. Wish I was well enough to attend but only finished treatment few days ago. would've been nice to meet others in same situation.

  • This sounds amazing  , no matter what stage of your journey you’re at it’s always good to meet others that are in the same or have been in the same boat as you. There’s no better support than those that have walked the same path.

I hope you enjoyed your day.

  • Thanks   , hope you’re doing ok too.

  • Hi  Shell46 glad to hear you have completed the somewhat gruelling treatment and the next few weeks things might get worse before you see an improvement as the treatment continues to work afterwards,  I'm sure you've already been told this tho. We are hoping that a local support group is going to be set up quite soon. I'm sure you seen Trisha speaking up on BBC News NI last week? She did an amazing job alongside Allison Martin (specialist nurse who you most probably have met I'd imagine if you have been treated at BCH cancer centre) in bringing the day to life. Always here if you need a chat (or moan) just reach out.

    Big hugs to you

    Andrea
