Day 1 , Radiotherapy and Chemo canula day  has at last arrived. Feeling anxious but very eager to start treatment, it feels like forever (3rd March) since they found the tumour. Hoping everyone else's journey is going well.

  • Good luck, hopefully all goes smoothly.

It’ll be a long day today, but I’m sure you’ll feel much more in control once it’s over, then start crossing those days off, hopefully it will go quickly once you’re in a routine

  • Hi AGP,

Very much hoping that your first day of treatment went as well as possible. It’s a big one, where everything is new and a lot to take in but at least you’ve finally started and can cross one day off.
Wishing you well for the days ahead

  • Hi Anne, hope it’s gone well for you today. I had my first day of Chemoradiotherapy on April 1st(!) and the 5 weeks went fast. I remember being keen to get started as the time between the biopsy and the treatment seemed forever, and at the time the treatment seemed to take ages. Lots of travelling to the hospital but now it seems to have gone very fast. So odd.

I didn’t have too many side effects - let’s hope you don’t either. I had none from the Radiotherapy as far as I can tell (I used the Flamigel twice a day), but the Capecitabine made my fingers and skin a but sore though, so take care to moisturise well just in case (I didn’t ) . I found CeraVe cream invaluable for my face as my skin became more dry than normal but that was the tablets again, not the Radiotherapy.

I started my first day of CAPOX today (Capecitabine + IV Oxaliplatin. Was both looking forward to getting it started but not at the same time. It’s all a bit bizarre!

Take care, rest lots if possible. Sending hugs x

  • Thank you Sadie, it went so fast, and much better, than expected. I got a bit emotional,  but I'm just so glad the 1st day is over.

It's weird how our emotions catch up with us x

My daughter was so on the ball taking notes etc .

One of my dogs had an operation a week ago. Still on cage rest, and quite hard work. I don't think it helped worrying about him too.

Big thank you for getting in touch. Hoping all is going well for you x

  • Thank you for your lovely message. I'm 68 so luckily retured. I do work but only about 15 hrs a week. Theirhappy for me to return when I'm OK so that good. It gave me focus after losing my husband I. 2023.

They have said once all tbe Chemo radiotherapy finished, they will leave me alone for 3 months then scan . Next scan a further 3 months. I'm doing everything they say so.im praying like you don't get too many side effects .

Big hugs and hope your OK on the new drug x
