I've had all the scans but still waiting for appointment to discuss treatment plan. I am faecal incontinent almost 24 hours and it is exhausting me with all the cleaning and changes. I feel weaker every day and the faecal incontinence is really getting me down. I don't know how to get more information about when treatment will start.
Hi Tartan lass ,
Firstly welcome to the MacMillan Online Community although I’m sorry to learn of your recent diagnosis & I’m so sorry you’re going through the incontinence on top of all of this too.
Please give your treating team a call & let them know how much you’re struggling at the moment it may hurry things along a little bit.
It’s such a trying time without the complications you’re experiencing. I really hope you get an appointment soon. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
Nicola
Thank you so much for your reply. Very much appreciated
Hello Tartan lass
Another welcome from me, although I am sorry that you have so much to deal with on top of the diagnosis. There is such a lot of waiting around in the early days but once they have all the information to hand, there is normally an MDT (multi-disciplinary team) meeting to devise the best course of treatment for you. But if all the investigations have been done then you should be hearing from them very soon. I would do as Nicola suggests and give them a ring and explain what you are having to deal with.
Please let us know how you get on. We are here to offer support should you want it during treatment and beyond.
Big hug (from another tartan lass)
Irene xx
Tartan Lass #3 checking in.
Hi, I am really sorry to hear you are having such a hard time with this. Many of us here have had problems of this type but this sounds pretty extreme. Please give someone at your hospital or the Macmillan team a call and let them know. They will be helpful and understanding, and they might be able to give you some practical help, or at least find out a bit more about what's happening for your treatment - it sounds like it is just completely wearing you down, as if the diagnosis itself wasn't tough enough to deal with, and you definitely sound like you could do with some practical support and advice.
Your treatment should not be long in getting started now that you have had your scans, and once you are wrapped up in that, you will start to see some progress, and light at the end of the tunnel, so hold on that thought if you can.
Please let us know how you are doing. xx
Thank you. I now have an appointment on Thursday to discuss treatment options so feeling a bit more hopeful ️
Hello Tartan Lass,
Welcome to the forum. I’m sorry about your diagnosis and that you’re having such an awful time with your symptoms. It sounds really hard and exhausting.
It sounds as though you have not yet been linked in to a support team and yet you really need some support, help guidance at the moment.
It’s good that you now have an appointment on Thursday and really hope that you get a plan for your treatment sorted as well as some immediate help.
It’s a very distressing time when you are taking in the diagnosis and don’t yet have a plan.
Big hug to you x
