Hi,

I had treatment for T3N1aM1 Anal Cancer back in end of March & April which had been successful and told end of August from my MRI that the Cancer had "gone". Obviously this was great news and I had been lucky really in terms of side effects I'd say.

I had been feeling good, taking it a bit easy in terms of exercise etc etc (although I want to get back to it as have unfortunately put on weight over the last year and a half).

I have an exercise bike which I started using and I am concerned I have hurt myself using it? I am now getting some pain in lower back / buttock which also feels like sciatica etc at times. I am scared have I damaged my pelvis or something around the area due to potentially overdoing things.

I am 47 male and would say average in terms of fitness. I am now scared to do anything but also at the same time worried what if it isn’t this? The pain comes and goes and will go if I take paracetamol / ibuprofen etc. I also have a desk job where sitting at my desk chair for a long period can make me ache a touch too but this has only been worse the last few weeks etc.

What's the best thing to do in this situation? I have some follow ups in November and February with my consultant (guessing more scans etc).

  • Hi   I was diagnosed with T2N1a M1 in April,  The M1 was a node just outside pelvic area all treated with Chemoradiotherapy, hoping for a good outcome.

A few weeks ago I had same sort of pain which also went down my left leg,  It did feel like sciatica.

May be side affect of treatment, that’s what I have put it down to. Hope it eases for you
