Hi everyone ,

hope you are all coping well ?
im 25 months post treatment and have another late effect to ask for help with ?
Im experiencing vaginal bleeding after a bowel movement which is normal not constipation .. waiting for a GP appointment ..

I used the dilators really well after treatment and being well past the menopause was happy for a somewhat reduced sex life .. This bleeding is new although I have radiation proctitis but wondered if anyone suffered or is it the HPV virus !!?

Many thanks

Chrissie xx

  • Hi  You are further ahead than me, but this isn't something I've experienced so can't really help. If you still have your specialised nurse number I would ring them and push your GP for an appointment sooner rather than later.  Sending hugs. Xx

  • Hi  ,

These new things that come up out of the blue can send you in to a real tailspin can’t they?

It’s not something that I’ve experienced but that’s not to say it’s anything to panic about (easier said than done eh?). Depending on the position of your tumour it could be that the vaginal bleeding is a result of the radiotherapy damaging the internal skin but I always tell people these things are always best checked out by a medical professional. It really will be the only way to put your mind to rest. Either, as Bungle has said push for an immediate GP appointment or give your treating team a call, I’m sure they’ll be happy to see you.

I hope you get some reassurance soon.

  • Hello

I really feel for you, I don't think any of us trust our bodies again after a cancer diagnosis and we always fear the worst.  I agree with the others about going straight back to your treating team for reassurance, not that I think that there is anything wrong other than widespread proctitis.  The vagina is right next to the anal canal and is in the line of fire during treatment.  But I am not a professional, best to get it checked out.

I really hope you see someone quickly to put your mind to rest, please let us know how you get on.

    Big hug
